In Mann’s second film, he played himself as a small-town musician who moved to New York to make it as a flutist (after literally fucking his music professor out of a job), but never seemed to do more than busking in midtown (you can see all the posters and marquees for the then-running Broadway shows in much of the exterior footage), and ended up becoming a male prostitute to support himself. One of Wrangler’s co-stars was a classically trained flutist named David Mann. Jack Wrangler did pretty well because he carved out his own career after he left porn (he’d been doing theater during most of his porn career anyway, and moved into directing - mostly for his wife - from there). Didn’t work out as well as it might have. It’s not as though that hasn’t been tried before.
